To France in India - Raghu Rai and Emmanuel Lenain

The book follows Rai's photographic explorations of France during his various trips, and Ambassador Emmanuel Lenain's visual impressions of contemporary Indian life and landscapes. 

Raghu Rai was an Indian photographer and photojournalist. In 1971, impressed by Rai’s exhibition at Gallery Delpire in Paris, the legendary photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson nominated him to Magnum Photos, the world’s most prestigious photographer’s cooperative. He was awarded the ‘Padmashree’ - India’s fourth highest civilian award in 1972, for the body of works he produced on the Bangladesh refugees during the Liberation war. Rai is also the only photographer in the world to receive an ‘Acadmie Des Beaux Art’ Paris Awards in 2019 - one of the highest awards in photography ever given to a living photographer. 

Emmanuel Lenain worked as an Ambassador of France, in Delhi, from 2019 - 2023. While being a diplomat, he has constantly maintained an extensive photography practice, featuring black and white photographs in numerous publications.
